Strayed talked about a dispiriting photo shoot with Vogue, in which her image was so photoshopped her husband said she looked like "an anorexic Fox News broadcaster." "It was a really complex thing," she said, explaining that the image they had cast of her – "thinner than I am, blonder, bigger boobs, my face smoothed out" – was in direct contrast to everything she believed in. "I'm not shy to say, thank you, Vogue, for publishing my words, and fuck you, Vogue, for altering my picture."
