A team of Austin Chronicle volunteers went to Wimberley this past weekend to assist in flood relief. We met up with the family of our Marketing Manager, Dallen to see how we could help. The Sullivan family's home on the Blanco River flooded completely on the first floor and up to a foot on the second. Crew members sifted for belongings in the yard, which during the flood, became a roiling riverbed. We hauled displaced and broken fixtures, cleaned tools and other items found in the wreckage, and made new friends. The Sullivan's allowed for us to see firsthand the might and menace of this usually peaceful river.
Photographer Kat Goins joined us to document the day.
