The 10-1 Ticker...

Election updates!

As of Wednesday morning, 33 candidates had officially filed for the November 4 ballot, of 75 would-be candidates who have previously declared or filed campaign treasurer designations. Deadline for ballot application is Monday, Aug. 18, 5pm... The mayoral campaign grew heated last week, as the Stephen Adler and Mike Martinez campaigns exchanged charges of accepting "corporate money" (later retracted by Adler's treasurer) and "benefiting from pollution" (concerning property Adler owns in the Barton Springs Zone)... The Environmental Democrats hosted an Aug. 6 forum for the mayoral and District 9 races, but issued no endorsements – no candidate received the required 60% of the vote... District 2 candidate Delia Garza announced she's picked up the endorsement of the Travis County Sheriffs' Law Enforcement Association PAC... More charges of sign vandalism in District 3 – the Shaun Ireland campaign said its signs are also disappearing from posted areas as well as restaurants... On Wednesday, Mario Cantu (District 3) supporter Stefan Wray filed a complaint with the city Ethics Commission, charging Susana Almanza with violations of disclosure requirements of the campaign finance ordinance... Good times for print companies: Campaign pros say so many candidates mean a three-to-four-week wait for campaign materials.

Candidate forums scheduled for this week are sponsored by AURA, Workers Defense Action Fund, Armadillo Park Neighborhood Assn., the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, and the Real Estate Council of Austin. For the scheduling details, consult the Chronicle's Election page.

Newly declared candidates include Martin Urbano Jr. (District 3), Jose Valera (3), Mackenzie Kelly (6), and Zachary Ingraham (7); ballot applications pending. More info at austinchronicle.com/elections.
