The B&C List

Below is our subjective division of city boards and commissions into tiers, based on the degree to which council members rely on them for advice, reviews, and recommendations.

The city's website lists some 56 boards and commissions. Of these, 43 are named and governed by Chapter 2-1 of the City Code; those are the boards listed here. The others are not governed directly by City Code, due to unique state or federal requirements or joint city-county status.


FIRST-TIER BOARDS

(noting recent hot topics)

Planning Commission*

Second and fourth Tuesdays, 6pm: City Hall, 301 W. Second, Council Chambers Comprehensive planning and economic development, transit-oriented developments, Stubb's rezoning, neighborhood plans

Zoning and Platting Commission*

First and third Tuesdays, 6pm: City Hall, Council Chambers Cell towers near residences, Oertli PUD, new subdivisions

Environmental Board*

First and third Wednesdays, 6pm: City Hall, Council Chambers South Shore District PUD, Barton Springs Pool Master Plan, Boardwalk Trail at Lady Bird Lake, reinstating Environmental Awareness Awards

Design Commission

Fourth Monday, 5:30pm: City Hall, Boards and Commissions Room Brazos streetscape, bike-rack sculptures, density bonuses, waterfront overlay, Downtown Plan, Waller Creek

Electric Utility Commission

Third Monday, 6pm: Town Lake Center, 721 Barton Springs Rd., Assembly Room Nuclear project expansion, Webberville Solar Project, other renewable energy projects, Austin Energy's public participation process

Parks and Recreation Board

Fourth Tuesday, 6pm: City Hall, Boards and Commissions Room Barton Springs Pool Master Plan, Boardwalk Trail at Lady Bird Lake, Lake Austin boat dock variances

Solid Waste Advisory Commission

Second Wednesday, 6:30pm: One Texas Center, 505 Barton Springs Rd., Room 325 Zero Waste Strategic Plan, solid waste management district

Water and Wastewater Commission

Second Wednesday, 6pm: Waller Creek Center, 625 E. 10th, Room 104 Deconstruction of Green Water Treatment Plant, Water Treat­ment Plant No. 4, and related construction

* These three boards meet twice monthly; all others meet monthly.

Arts Commission

Austin Music Commission

First Monday, 6pm: City Hall, Boards and Commissions Room

Historic Landmark Commission

Urban Forestry Board
