Kreayshawn
Somethin 'Bout Kreay (Columbia)Kreayshawn's debut isn't just bad. It's historically awful. Never before in the history of recorded music has a major label debut sold so poorly in its first week on racks. Somethin 'Bout Kreay did 3,900 units in mid-September, but not even a million on the books could change the fact that the meme-able Oakland MC sounds as if she recorded her rhymes in her bedroom and mailed them to Columbia Records on a flash drive. A horrendously top-level "Ch00k Ch00k Tare," the cheap and disjointed "Summertime," and hurried "The Ruler" should've stayed in her hope chest, while the teener pop of "BFF (Bestfriend)" and "Left Ey3" make last year's viral smash "Gucci Gucci" sound transcendent. No surprise the album's best track, the Diplo-produced "Twerkin!!!," eases Kreayshawn out of the mix. Sure, there's Somethin 'Bout Kreay, but it's not good. (Sat., Blue stage, 4pm)
