Give You the Ghost (Totally Gross National Product)

Smeared in synth, auto-tune, and scarlet neon fonts, Give You the Ghost doesn't exactly betray the fact that art-rocking quintet Poliça hail from perpetually frozen Minneapolis. Then again, its debut gets a lot of traction out of being crisp and clean. The barreling "Lay Your Cards Out" flashes in and out of focus with frontwoman Channy Leaneagh's voice artificially curled around a gauzy, skittering drum shuffle. Cosmic duo "Wandering Star" and "Dark Star" drizzle her suave over honeyed grooves. She's the star; Poliça is Channy Leaneagh's highlife. Her fluttery, incognito cadence flirts with each of these songs, giddy in staying undeclared. The piped-in Eighties pageantry is practically her natural habitat. She owns the place with such confidence you practically forget it's a 40-minute album of only one sound. (3:15pm, Honda stage)
