They Look Like Good Strong Hands
Instrumental locals dig deep on this eponymous LP, finding a moody groove early and basking in it for the entirety. Combining a serious tone with the arch and crescendo style of post-rock, their approach is sadly too stiff to sustain a full-length, as demonstrated by the monolithic, four-part "strange loop" cycle that dominates the disc. A few surprises next time could work wonders.
