Bill Carter
Behind the Barn (Lowdown)
Following Bill Carter's local roots-pop teaming with Will Sexton and Stephen Doster, Behind the Barn hunkers down in the blues and acoustic rurality. Richard Bowden, Cindy Cashdollar, and Bobby Keys lend an authoritative twinkle to Carter's always-accomplished compositions, which here are mostly ribald and offbeat. With joint-rolling "Fez" leading the way, Barn is packed with Americana visions worthy of Ry Cooder and John Hartford. ![]()
