Neurosis' rare live performances double as exorcism ceremonies. The Bay Area avant-metal act taps into something ineffable during the 80-minute spiritual reckoning of Live at Roadburn 2007, its third and strongest authorized bootleg. Split primarily between that year’s Given to the Rising and 2006's The Eye of Every Storm, the set of emotive doom metal and ominous post rock is plastered with the boiling tar vocals and punishing guitars of leaders Scott Kelly and Steve Von Till. From the deathbed hymnal "A Season in the Sky" through "The Doorway" finale, it's a relentlessly heavy burden, but Noah Landis' swarm of keyboard effects stitches the whole thing together like Merzbow to Boris' Rock Dream.
