The Dedringers
Sweetheart of the Neighborhood (Dedcrow)Though the title puns the Byrds, the Dedringers' debut LP opens with the Rolling Stones' bruisin' influence of "Sideman's Blues." The quartet rips a number of roots styles, crafting epic narratives that run through gritty Wilco-esque pop ("Tonight," "Institution"), soft ballads ("Heart of Gold," "Seven Days and Seven Nights"), and the rolling moan of Townes Van Zandt's "Black Jack Mama" and the sex-driven title track.
