M1 of Dead Prez

Fuze, Thursday, March 13

The Dead Prez stigma is that they don't care who's watching, who's listening, or who's buying their albums. M1 and Stic.man know it's good music, so they're gonna keep making it. That's why M1 didn't seem put off whatsoever when he strolled onstage 40 minutes late to a crowd that couldn't have been any stronger than 30. "A lot of you believe in some bullshit. I don't," professed the Tallahassee rapper before launching into "Know Your Enemy" (flowing, "George Bush is way worse than bin Laden"). Packing a 17-minute set with spliced Dead Prez cuts, M1 popped "Radio Frequency," "Hell Yeah," "Hip-Hop," "Assassination," and freestyled over "Juicy" before telling the crowd that Fuze was kicking him off the stage. Shame too, because the loyal waited far too long on a lukewarm dose of RBG labelmates to see the main attraction administer such a tease. "I came to talk real talk with you", claimed M, but there was hardly enough time to make acquaintances.
