BIG RIVER

As expected, musicians came out of the woodwork for last weekend's NAMM Summer Show. Johnny Cash's longtime band, the Tennessee Three (pictured), played with Lone Star rockabilly duo the Lonesome Spurs at Saturday's "Showdown at Stubb's," and Beatles engineer Geoff Emerick gave a NARAS-sponsored workshop at the Austin City Limits studio. Spotted at the vast tradeshow at the Austin Convention Center were Peter Frampton, Leslie West of Mountain, Macy Gray, Pamela Des Barres, Jack Ingram, and locals Abra Moore, Billy Harvey, JJ Johnson, Monte Montgomery, and Stephen Bruton. The NAMM show and surrounding activity were projected to bring an estimated $20 million into the Austin economy.
