Black Joe Lewis, the Tucson native who's been howlin' the blues in Austin for the past two years, drops his new self-titled EP tonight (Thursday) at the Hole in the Wall with the Weary Boys, whose Brian Salvi produced the album. Longtime local harp-blower Walter Daniels also appears on the EP, released on Italy's Shake Your Ass Records; its raw and soulful vibe will hit fans of Lewis' frequent billmate Scott H. Biram and idol Lightnin' Hopkins right in the breadbasket.
This picture of Ryan Adams (above left), from Rolling Stone's recent "Hot Issue," bears a striking resemblance to a certain Okkervil River frontman. TCB can't help but wonder: Has anyone ever actually seen Adams and Will Sheff (r) in a room together? Could Okkervil really be Whiskeytown in disguise?
