[DARYL]/Black Tie Dynasty
Bloody Basin (Idol)
"Nothing changes when there's nothing to exchange." D/FW's retro Black Tie Dynasty and indie poppers [DARYL] mingle on this split EP. Opener "Bloody Basin" is just that: a dead horse lying at the bottom of a radio pool, bred equally by two similarly different bands. The two following tracks exemplify BTD's love of Duran Duran, unoriginal but dramatic. [DARYL]'s "Exploding Hearts" and their cover of Ned's Atomic Dustbin's "Happy" make a drunken "Gloria" sound like heaven. Not that "Gloria." Stop naming songs "Gloria."
