To Shorten the Winter: An Irish Christmas (Green Linnet) Tommy Sands wrote all but three of the tunes on To Shorten the Winter, gorgeously rendered holiday fare from an Irish treasure. Even the arrangement of the otherwise awkward "Whiter Shade of Pale" makes it fit with traditionals like "Raglan Road" and "Matt Hyland" as music for the season. Not the average Irish offering, but as a former teen singing star, Sands is no ordinary Irishman.
