Blue Xmas
(Evidence) It'd seem like a good idea. Round up a bunch of folks like Jake Andrews, Otis Rush, Kim Wilson, and Son Seals to put in their two cents' worth for an instrumental Christmas CD. Unfortunately, gut-bucket versions of songs like "White Christmas" just don't work. The 12-bar treatment comes across better on nontraditional numbers like "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," and Denny Freeman puts in a lovely jazz-version of Mel Tormé's "The Christmas Song".
