On the western edge of historic Hyde Park sits the former video store turned art space Gallery Black Lagoon. Easily recognizable by the eccentric mural featuring the gill-faced Creature of horror film fame, the versatile venue at the busy nexus of 43rd and Guadalupe (also home to The Parlor, Hyde Park Theatre, and Dane’s Body Shop) offers contemporary art exhibitions, yoga classes, and more, all to stimulate the senses and put a little zen up in your world. The gallery is also available to rent for special occasions, such as wedding receptions and graduation parties.
