Spider House Ballroom

2906 Fruth
Austin, 78705
512/480-9562
This all-ages complex of rooms, stages, and bars just north of the UT campus on Guadalupe is a whole night out in itself. Open since 1995, the 350-capacity Ballroom connects to the cafe, its patio, and two outside stages to hold up to 2,000 people. The Ballroom itself, with its boutique red velvet and gold grandeur, has become a home to burlesque, boylesque, karaoke and comedy, DJs, the Austin Mic Exchange for budding MCs, plus the Chronicle’s own Karaoke and Chill pre-Valentine’s Day celebration. The cafe serves food late for post-show munchies.

Shit's Golden

In which your hosts Chris Tellez and Pat Dean present a comedy line-up that's gonna break your funnybone to a point just short of causing arterial splatter of Mandelbrotian complexity against the nearest wall, featuring Chris Cubas, Kath Barbadoro, Aaron Brooks, Ashley Overton, and Andrew Clarkston, Derek Phelps, and Andrew Rosas. Mon., May 1, 9pm. $5 ($2, students).

Mac Blake's Waterbed

That lanky laughmonger Blake (FPIA, 2013) and L.A.'s Kerri Lendo bring you the best of Austin stand-up, sketch, and more – with a probably futuristic, possibly robotic, potentially sex-spackled theme of "WestBed." With Yusef Roach, Andrew Murphy, Vanessa Gonzalez, Kelsey Rodgers, Aaron Brooks, and more. Bonus: The Dark Arts. Thu., May 4, 10pm. $8 ($5, students).
