Victory Grill

1104 E. 11th
Austin, 78702
The Victory Grill was founded on VJ-Day 1945 so that black servicemen returning from war could have a place to eat and drink in the segregated South. The Eastside room later gained fame as the local stop on the predominantly black Chitlin’ Circuit, hosting shows for B.B. King, Bobby Bland, and Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown. The 150-capacity venue is infrequently utilized today, but remains a favorite spot for events showcasing urban music.
