The Leander/Cedar Park area can feel half a planet away from the ATX music scene, even if it’s just 40 minutes out. Fortunately, the region has Rumi’s Tavern, located in the nexus of Leander and Jonestown. Specialty cocktails and microbrews join oysters, shrimp, and sandwiches in filling your belly, while bands leaning toward classic rock and Americana fill your ears. You can even get in on the action with Sunday night open jams hosted by DeWayne Davis. With a capacity of about 150, every show feels intimate.

Everyday pleasure seems is the point with chef Russell Dougherty’s menu composed of bar snacks, a few sandwiches and salads, burgers, and fried chicken. Simple things like deviled eggs are done exceedingly well, and the chicken gets rightful prominence on the menu.
