noon-4pm Live: ACAC's Silver Anniversary Party
The Silver Anniversary Show is scheduled to include the 1998 Austin Video Awards; speeches by former Cable Commission Chairman Stuart Heady, Texas Civil Rights Project Chief Counsel Jim Harrington, and former FCC Commissioner Nicholas Johnson. Music will be from the Bells of Joy, the Asylum Street Spankers, NOOK, Afrodite, Jon Dee Graham, Ike Eichenberg, Fantasma, Gerry Van King, Manuel "Cowboy" Donley, The Gypsies & Karuna, Leanne Atherton, George Start, and Patricia Portley; magic from Magical Mystical Michael; puppetry from Debra Orr, Ross Wilsey, and Cricket Farms; and the debut of ACAC's "cake cam" to provide closeup coverage of the 25th Anniversary birthday cake. (Contrary to early hopes - and Lee Nichols' "Media Clips" column last week - Lloyd Doggett and Kirk Watson will not attend. Both will be out of town on business.)
How they'll fit all that into four hours, we have no idea, but the public is welcome to attend Saturday, June 6, noon-4 pm, at the ACAC Studios at the corner of Rosewood and Northwestern.
