A SPRING WEDDING SHOWCASE will be held at the Austin Convention Center, benefiting the Lone Star Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The event features bridal exhibitors, fashion shows, live music, prize give-aways, and much more. Cost is $6. Sun, March 2, noon-5pm. 448-2823.

CENTRAL TEXAS' OWN STEAM TRAIN will make a grand entrance into downtown Austin this weekend, not far from where the Capital City first heard the whistle of a railroad engine more than 125 years ago. The Austin & Texas Central Railroad's restored steam locomotive and vintage passenger cars, that has operated in regular excursion service in the nearby Hill Country for the last five years, will now be named the "River City Flyer." The Flyer will focus first on education, with a planned program of steam-train trips for Austin-area school children. The railroad will also offer custom-designed charter trips for groups, corporations, and convention visitors, as well as a schedule of short public excursions. The opening weekend/grand entrance will be held Sun, March 2, 1:45pm. 477-6377.

THE SORORITY RUSH FORM, for high school girls planning to go to college next fall (and their mothers), will be held at Murchison Middle School, 3700 North Hills Dr. The event is designed to help young women obtain information and see displays on sorority life. Sun, March 2, 2:30pm. 335-1035.

AUSTIN PRESCHOOL MOTHERS' CLUB, Far Northwest Chapter, will hold their next monthly meeting at the Church of the Savior, 3402 Little Elm Tr.
