THE 1997 SWEETHEART CABARET will be presented by the Capital City Men's Chorus, and features an evening of romance with performances by the members of CCMC, a food buffet, door prizes, valet parking, complimentary champagne, festive dessert, and more! RUSSIAN PIANIST DMITRI RATSER will be in Austin for a special performance with the Austin Symphony, to be held at the Bass Concert Hall on the UT campus. Ratser has received numerous accolades and awards, including first prize in the Liszt International Jubilee and the All-Union Rachmaninoff Competitions. The program will include works by Saint-Saëns, Copland, and Beethoven. Tickets range from $11-25 and are available at the Symphony Box Office, 11th & Red River. THE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL-INSTITUTE at Round Top presents a concert featuring acclaimed pianist James Dick, in the Festival Concert Hall. THE AUSTIN EARLY MUSIC WINTER FESTIVAL, sponsored by the Texas Early Music Project and La Follia Austin Baroque, features a concert by PIFFARO (formerly the Philadelphia Renaissance Wind Band). PIFFARO performs the music of the late Medieval, Renaissance, and early Baroque periods on a large and varied collection of early wind instruments, augmented by percussion and strings. THE INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC CIRCLE of Austin will present a concert by Sarod player Rajeev Taranath, accompanied by Sandip Burman on tabla, to be held in Jessen Auditorium on the UT campus. Taranath has performed extensively in India, Europe, North America, Australia, and the Middle East, and he has received numerous honors and recognitions. $15 general, $8 students and seniors.
