Instruction/Support Groups


A VITALIZATION WEEKEND, a "cleansing for the body, mind, and spirit," will be led by Sel Sarkin at The Last Resort, 2502 Side Cove. The weekend includes detoxifying the body with fruit and vegetable juices, meditation, walks in the countryside, music, dance, and more. Cost is $149 (sliding-scale available). Pre-register. "GRADES VISITOR MORNING," an introductory talk on the Waldorf grade school curriculum, classroom observation, and a question/answer period with teachers, will be held at the Austin Waldorf School, 8702 South View Rd. CLAYWAYS POTTERY STUDIO offers a variety of classes in handbuilding, tilemaking, and wheel throwing at their location, 5442 Burnet Rd. Cost is $125 for eight-week sessions beginning in February. The shop will also sponsor an Artist's Way Creativity Workshop, facilitated by Anne Eagle. The introductory class meets Wed, Jan 29, followed by 12 weekly classes. Cost is $180. 459-6445.

PERCUSSION CLASSES, featuring the rhythms of Cuba, Haiti, Brazil, and the Congo, are offered in group and private sessions. Drums can be provided for those without. Tuesdays, 8-9pm. 459-9576.

SPRING ART SCHOOL REGISTRATION is currently underway at the Austin Museum of Art's Art School, 3809 W. 35th. Classes include painting, ceramics, sculpture, clay, cartooning, and more. 458-8191.
