THE CREATIVITY CLUB is an afterschool program for hose who want more than daycare for their 6-9 year old children. Sponsored by the Dougherty Arts Center, the club provides an introduction to the performing and visual arts through drama, music, dance, visual arts, and non-competitive recreational games. PIONEER FARM is a place to learn how pioneers settled and farmed the land. Visitors can see the farm animals, take part in daily chores, and tour historic homes and barns. THE AUSTIN NATURE CENTER, located in Zilker Park, provides exhibits and educational programs for children of all ages. Exhibits illustrate the ecology of Central Texas through preserved natural areas, including a pond trail, a "Discovery Lab" featuring hands-on displays, wildlife exhibits with native animals (injured or orphaned and unable to survive in the wild), and a wildlife garden featuring native habitats. AUSTIN ZOO, aka Good Day Ranch, features a "hands-on" approach to educating our community about a variety of exotic and domestic animals. Children can pet, feed, and learn about a variety of animals, including a serval, lemur, python, wallaby, and others. The zoo will sponsor a special holiday camp for kids in Dec. AUSTIN CHILDREN'S MUSEUM A new permanent addition, "The Weather Gallery," is featured at the museum. Museum-goers can observe cloud formations, experience a wind tunnel, or make it rain. "Jungle Impressions" is also on view through January 21. Visitors begin their journey at the Travelers' Outpost where they pick up supplies: pith helmet, clipboard, and note pages, and continue their exploration by collecting sketches and rubbings of plant and animal forms, crossing a winding river, peeking into a cave, and visiting a butterfly corner.
