For the Imperial Flower Combat Trooper on Your List: Austin-Accented Animé on DVD

There are more animé DVDs out now featuring Austin actors than ever before – enough to ground even Samurai Santa's Gaijin-class Dreadnaught Sleighcruiser. Here's a list of our Top 5 portals to animé greatness, each featuring some of Austin's most notorious actors. All DVDs are available at www.advfilms.com or local DVD outlets. In case you're brain-dead, not all are suitable for children.

Cosplay Complex: Three girls with a passion for dressing up as their favorite animé characters in between stripping down and chatting with Samantha Inoue Harte's elfin sprite Delmo. Like Bluto's sorority-house window scene from Animal House minus John Belushi.

Samurai X: Reflection: Kenshin, a sword-bearing master assassin with enough psychic baggage to fill a charnel house, roams the land and ties up loose ends (and lives) in this appropriately epic two-part series conclusion.

Final Fantasy: Unlimited: You've played the game, read the manga, seen the movie, and wondered what all the fuss was about ... now hear Samantha Inoue Harte as Choco the Chocobo in all of her ocher splendor.

Sakura Wars: Overture: Marked by stunning animation and stylistic flourishes worthy of Satoshi Kon himself, this is the story of the Imperial Flower Combat Troop and female warrior Sakura's ongoing travails betwixt heart and blade. Splendid.

The Princess Blade: Surprise! It's live-action! ADV's English dubbing track is nearly as flawless as the breathtaking opening ambush sequence, itself worthy of Kurosawa himself. An overlooked, crimson-dappled gem.
