In Memoriam: Brother Jeremias Mysliwiec CSC

Farewell to Brother Jeremias, a generous man who gave his life to the church as a member of the Congregation of Holy Cross and who in his final years achieved recognition as a visual artist. He passed away this past Friday, Sept. 5, even as a new show of his work was going up at Yard Dog Gallery. He was 88. A Chicago native who joined the Holy Cross order at age 22, Brother Jeremias served as a teacher and librarian in South Bend, New Orleans, and Biloxi, before landing in Austin in 1980. He spent five years on the library staff at St. Edward's University, after which he retired and took up the brush. His current exhibition at Yard Dog is titled "From Tragedies to Hope" and runs through September. For more information and images of Brother Jeremias' art, visit www.yarddog.com.
