Last week's "Then There's This" column incorrectly stated that the Downtown Commission approved a proposed zoning change for a Gables Residential and Hotel ZaZa project, with a recommendation to Council that the developer address neighbors' parking concerns. Rather, the commission did not approve the plan but moved instead to recommend to Council that the developer address neighbors' concerns about parking and noise from the pool deck. Additionally, Heather Way was erroneously identified as chair of the Downtown Commission. She is vice chair and was filling in as chair at the Jan. 16 meeting.
It's come to our attention that there were a number of factual errors in last week's story about the San Antonio Cocktail Conference ("The Elephant in the Room," Jan. 25). The Chronicle incorrectly identified a competitor in Speed Rack's speed drink-mixing contest as "Drink.Well American Pub co-owner Mike Sanders (in drag)"; in fact, co-owner Jessica Sanders competed for Drink.Well. (Mr. Sanders competed in drag at a separate charity event, also sponsored by Speed Rack, on Jan. 15 in Austin.) We also bungled the rankings: Madelyn Kay of Haddingtons took second place, not Whitney Hobbs of La Condesa (Hobbs was a semifinalist). The Chronicle regrets the errors. See Virginia B. Wood's column "Food-o-File" for more.
