What's Christmas without a little unwrapping?

Move over, Rockettes. Austin's queen of nouveau burlesque, Sassy Delure, and her long-time partner-in-grind Roxie Moxie have decided to celebrate the holiday season the only way they know how: With a special celebration of unwrapping courtesy of Avant Glam.

DeLure set Austin's newest burlesque and cabaret troupe high stepping earlier this year, with the aim of creating shows that were really a show, rather than a series of vignettes of performances. Tonight it's the giving season's turn to get a little sprinkle of the glam touch with the 12 Nights: A Christmas Cabaret.

This Wintery affair, featuring Delure and Moxie, plus Lady Luck and Lilly LeFleur, (plus guest performances from Frannie Brown, Serese Brown and Mike Loya) comes with a promise to put some joy in the heart of even the Grinchiest Grinch, with a mixture of cabaret dancing, burlesque, bellydance, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Austin has long added cabaret to its festive traditions, from the long-cherished Xmas Unwrapped burlesque that used to grace the Hyde Park Theater, to the ongoing turkey trot of Black Widow Burlesque's Spanksgiving. Meanwhile, the Jigglewatts' have their upcoming New Year's Eve Spectacular to see off this annus horribilis. Perhaps Delure's visions of sugar plums will be dancing through our heads for years to come.

Avant Glam presents: 12 Nights – A Christmas Cabaret, Dec. 21, 8pm and 10:30pm, Spider House Ballroom, 2906 Fruth. Tickets availabel via www.brownpapertickets.com or on the door. More info at www.facebook.com/AvantGlamCabaret.
