Shivery Shakes “Remember When”

An ear on the local jangle meisters’ debut LP

Life’s fleeting, so value the moments. That’s the premise of “Remember When,” my favorite song amongst the 10 sunburned tracks on local quartet Shivery Shakes’ new LP, Three Waves & A Shake.

Atop shimmering guitar, bandleader William Glosup lays out the lyrical hook in careful melody:

“With every day that comes and goes,
It’s never coming back again.
At least now that we know,
We can always remember when.”

“The song was written from the perspective of a distant family member with a ruffian youth who passed away,” explains its author, Glosup. “I wrote it from his perspective as some ‘seize the day’ advice to myself.”

Three Waves & a Shake, the group’s debut full-length after logging a self-titled EP in 2012 and a seven-inch last year, “Sidewalk Talk” b/w “So Long,” was recorded at ATX’s Daytrotter outpost Good Danny’s with Danny Reisch. Co-released by local labels Punctum Records and Austin Town Hall Records, the LP arrived on Bandcamp in October and now can be found physically at End of An Ear and Waterloo Records.

Shivery Shakes throws a vinyl release party at ABGB on Friday, Dec. 18, with Star Parks.
