Hillary Rodham Clinton is Coming to Town
Lucky BookPeople. First they got Bill, now they get Hillary. Yup, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will be signing her new book Hard Choices at the downtown literary sanctuary a week from today, before a conversation at the Long Center.
The book signing event starts at 3pm on June 20: The store is selling tickets now both in person at 603 N. Lamar, or online at www.bookpeople.com. Each ticket costs $35 and includes a copy of her new book Hard Choices (and no, she won't be signing memorabilia.)
That ticket price is a lot less than the entry fee for her Long Center evening speech, which starts at $75 for a regular seat and runs through to $500 for a photo op.
Expect the same kind of long line that greeted her husband when he appeared in Austin back in 2007. That was part of the former president's ongoing victory lap and awareness raising for his charitable causes. However, there's a feeling that, for his wife, this is as much stump speech as signing.
She is still playing coy about whether she will run for president in 2016 after her unsuccessful shot in 2008, but most observers think they know better. In fact, pretty much the only person that hasn't already dusted off their "Run, Hillary, Run" stickers is the former first lady herself. So far, the mere rumor of a HRC run has been enough to scare people off from starting their own campaigns, and there's mounting belief that the relative rookie of six years ago has more than enough experience for a real run in two years' time.
