News broke last night that Ryan and Gina Blackmore have sold the last of their Your Mom's Burgers (5001 Airport) outlets, transferring the business and lease to the husband and wife team of Quang Vuong and Kim Thai, owners of the fast-growing local chain, Pho Thaison.
Former restaurateur and current commercial real estate agent Brian Erickson negotiated the deal for the couples, and he reports that the new concept for the Airport location will be a fast casual Asian eatery called Bun Belly, featuring mainly báhn mì and buns.
According to Erickson, the lease for the Mom's location also includes an option on the building just north of the burger joint, former home of Tamale House East, which is owned by the same landlord. Kim Thai is still developing a concept for that space. Remodeling has begun at 5001 Airport, but no target date has been set for the opening of Bun Belly.
Since the Blackmores retained the name and cool retro trademark for their business, there's always the possibility we'll have a chance to enjoy their stuffed burgers in another location at some point in the future.
