I've Got Wendy Davis Nails
Nails Y'all's nail bling is making its way across the nation

It's the Fourth of July, y'all. In honor of this Independence Day, in honor of the dedication of Senator Wendy Davis, and in preparation for my trip to Florida (Texas represent!), I did my nails, y'all.
Nails Y'all is the nail bling biz of local entreprenuer Meghann Rosales. Maybe you've heard of her. It seems the rest of the country has.
After Sen. Davis' historic filibuster last week at the Texas State Capitol. Rosales scheduled a three-day Hands Off fundraiser applying her patented Wendy Davis decals to the nails of women's reproductive rights supporters all to benefit Planned Parenthood.
Next week, I am heading to Miami for the annual Association of Alternative Newsmedia convention as one of a contingent representing The Austin Chronicle. I could not shake the notion of also repping Texas at this important time. What better way to support the cause and rep Texas than to call up Meghann and get her to bling out my nails?
She agreed to come to our offices early the day before before the holiday and showed up toting her kit of tools, polish bottles, glitter, rhinestones, and unique, handmade decals. We discussed options for each of my fingers, as I could not resist getting a full set.
As you see in the top photo, Wendy rules my thumbs. I asked Megann to add glitter, because I wanted to show a festive Wendy enjoying a ticker tape parade in honor of her win as governor of Texas. (Or maybe sitting in the Chronicle's convertible during this year's Austin Pride parade? She'll have to take a back seat to Mary Gonzalez, though.)
My index and middle right-hand fingers get an N and an O, respectively, so I, too can flash my "NO" vote with panache and in orange. This may also may make my peace signs and "mas cervesas" signs a tad confusing, but if that's the price, I'll pay it.
Texas flags and flowers run wild on my ring fingers and pinkies (yellow for Texas and blue for this session's new crop of lady Democratic sheroes).
And last, but not least, my left middle finger gets a uterus, so that I may flip my own "hands off" message. Next to it, my left index finger sports Bevo: a) Because he is cute and b) Because, face it, he looks like a uterus.
When I'm in Miami, and they ask about my bling, I'll tell them, "Let me tell you about my nails, y'all… ."
