In this story of love, trust, and coming-of-age, two young boys, Ellis (Tree of Life's Tye Sheridan) and Neckbone (newcomer Jacob Lofland), learn there's more than mystery upriver as they get to know the fantastical titular Mud (Matthew McConaughey). But when bounty hunters and former snipers come onto the scene, the boys learn there might be more adventure than they bargained for.
