Hennes & Mauritz Rides to the Rescue! With Stylists!

At high noon, on November 17th, Hennes & Mauritz, known to everyone but us as H&M, will finally rescue Austin from the fashion railroad tracks. We have been the bargain-bounty backwater of Texas. Gas prices are nowhere near the levels we enjoyed back when we thought nothing of jumping in the car for "a few" (read: "several") hours,

and today, at least a few frocks and shiny things must be sacrificed just to make the trip. Not anymore, dahlink!

H&M announces its grand opening at The Domain after years of both commercial and self-stylists' prayers to the spirit of Diana Vreeland for a chance at the same merchandise our sister cities gobble up like it was their last meal. The last decade has seen H&M become a basic resource for those who wear this-minute style on a budget by offering collections for ladies, men, juniors, and boys that are now regularly featured alongside designer wear in fashion's national editorial pages.

At the Domain location, a separate store-in-store houses accessory, lingerie, and maternity lines. This location will also carry the Swedish retailer's children's collection. "We are thrilled to finally open in such a highly anticipated market," says Daniel Kulle, U.S. President for H&M. "Since opening our first store in the state in 2011 in Dallas, Texans have been incredibly loyal and supportive and we could not be more excited to bring fashion and quality at the best price to local Austin customers."

The first 500 shoppers in line will recieve an H&M t-shirt and an "Access Fashion Pass", valued from $10 to $500; one winner will be allowed early entry for makeover advice from a personal stylist.
