Play 'Star Wars: The Old Republic' for Free
Massive online game goes free-to-play this fall

In a move that's been rumored for months, BioWare officially announced their locally developed massively multiplayer online game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, will offer a free-to-play option starting this fall.
What does that mean? Well, much like it sounds, you can play the game for free. BUT ... your character will only be allowed to develop to level 50 before your experience is capped. There are other advantages to paying to play, of course. If you want the details about the difference between being a subscribed player and a freeloader you can check out BioWare's FAQ site.
This is a similar model World of Warcraft adopted as sales began to slip. It seems a bit early for SW:TOR to opt for this, but we figure the fine folks at BioWare's parent company, EA, know their business.
