Jean de Castelnau, the export director for Domaines Paul Mas winery in France’s Languedoc, was here in Austin for a trade tasting and later for a small party at Justine's.

My favorite of his wines was the brisk and refreshing white Picpoul de Pinet ($16), though the food-friendly Malbec ($15) was a close second. Everyone’s favorite was the bold, dark red Clos de Savignac Grand Cru ($30), but it is quite rare and only available at Justine’s and the Austin Wine Merchant. The Picpoul is avail at select Spec’s and the Malbec is at East End Wines. All are worth trying.
