Civics 101 Editor Monica Riese has compiled a handy list of upcoming campaign events, forums, etc. As best as we can catch them on the wing, here are the next few days:
Friday 13 POLITICAL PEDAL Meet at City Hall at 4:45pm for a half hour of candidate speeches and then a ride to Uncle Billy's, where cyclists and candidates can talk about building a better cycling city. Free food while it lasts; first 25 to call in their RSVP get two free draft beers. 4:45-7:45pm. Austin City Hall, 301 W. Sunday 15 MAYORAL DEBATE Scholz and KOOP host incumbent Mayor Lee Leffingwell and challengers Brigid Shea and Clay Dafoe in this hourlong debate moderated by the Chronicle's own Amy Smith and former KOOP programmer Deece Eckstein. 6-7pm. Scholz Garten, 1607 San Jacinto. www.scholzgarten.net.
Monday 16 MAYOR AND COUNCIL DEBATE Candidates in the May municipal election will gather for a debate two weeks prior to early voting. Meet and greet to follow. 7-9pm. Home Builders Association, 8140 Exchange Dr. Free. www.austinhomebuilders.com.
Tuesday 17 SOLAR INDUSTRY CANDIDATE FORUM Hear from the candidates on jobs, energy, and the economy. 5:30-8:30pm. Ventana del Soul, 1834 E. Oltorf. www.ventanadelsoul.org.
Wednesday 18 NACN CANDIDATE FORUM The North Austin Coalition of Neighborhoods gets in on the forum action too. Stay late to check out the North Lamar/Burnet Transportation Study. 6:30-8:30pm. St. Albert the Great Parish Hall, 12041 Bittern Hollow.
