Bands participating in the Chronicle's Sound Wars must be based in the Austin area.
Bands must be signed up for the Chronicle's Musicians Register in order to participate.
Bands participate by uploading a song in MP3 format to their Musicians Register profile and designating that song as their Sound Wars entry.
Only one song will be allowed in the competition.
Competing songs must be original compositions by the participating band.
The winner of the 1st edition of SOUND WARS (The Tiny Tin Hearts) is not eligible to participate in the 2nd edition of SOUND WARS.
To participate in SOUND WARS, bands must opt in on their Musicians Register profiles by noon Wednesday, January 27, 2010.
RULES – GENERAL PUBLIC
Voters MUST be registered in order to vote in the SOUND WARS competition.
Voters will only be allowed to vote once per day for a band.
Voters will be allowed to vote for multiple bands, but ONLY once per day.
*Ad content subject to Austin Chronicle approval. Austin Chronicle will assist in ad design.
PRIZES
A half-page ad will run in the Chronicle on Thursday, February 18, 2010 congratulating the winner of the SOUND WARS competition. The ad will prominently feature the name of the band and photo.
The winner will also receive the following:
8 hour block of recording time courtesy of Austin's own MUSIC LAB.
A half-page ad* in the Austin Chronicle’s SXSW Music Issue on stands Wednesday, March 17, 2010. (Value of $1,585)
One week of online ads* on austinchronicle.com (50,000 impressions) to be used at the winning bands discretion. Black out period during the month of March. Must be used by 2/18/11. (Value of $400)
