Juan Garza's new boss?

With a barely there quorum, the City Council just convened on day one of the city manager selection process. Mayor Will Wynn assured the near-vacant hall that the rest of the council would soon be joining them in executive session, where he expected to be "all afternoon, essentially going over resumes." Before breaking, he noted council was also posted to name the city manager semifinalists today, "if need be." And with that, they were off.
The real movement today in the city manager search happened off the dais, with internal applicant and Austin Energy General Manager Juan Garza's announcement he'd be interviewing for the top spot at Pedernales Electric Cooperative later today. While Garza didn't have anything similar to Assistant City Manager Laura Huffman's whispered momentum going into the selection process, it's still intriguing one of the big three internal candidates might have a (likely higher-paying and less-stressful) gig in the wings.
