Jody Denberg signs off of KGSR

 Fri Nov 13, 7:10pm

Jody Denberg, the voice and vision of 1017.1 KGSR, is leaving his position as Content Manager and On-air host after 19 years. “I have promised myself one year without doing any work,” Denberg said in an official release. “The time is right for me to take some time off and recharge my creative batteries.”

Denberg, who's live on air weekdays from 1-6pm, will stay on board through the station's 19-year anniversary part on Dec. 5, featuring Rosanne Cash, Bob Schneider, and the Gourds. Previous to his tenure at KGSR, Denberg spent 10 years on Emmis Austin’s sister station, KLBJ. No replacement for Denberg has been named at this time.

Wow! An early Austin Christmas present! Jody"I'm friends with Yoko Ono" Denberg is off the air! Does that mean less Van Morrison on KGSR? Does this mean KGSR will be good again and change their lame programming? Austin could sure use a "Cool" radio station again since there is a rumour that Austin is some kind of Music Capital! KGSR needs to listen to KFAN and take some pointers!I stopped listening to KGSR a long time ago. Thank God for satellite radio!

Sad to see Jody take off, but can't blame anyone for needing a break. KGSR won't be the same without him, and hopefully his departure isn't signaling a significant change to what is arguably, but widely accepted as one of the coolest stations in America.
