Who writes the propositions? New Texan Oct 20, 2008 - 11:10 am
I'm an attorney and I'm having a difficult time understanding what these propositions mean to the community. For instance, Austin ISD Tax Ratification - it looks like they want to raise the ad valorem tax to .039 higher than the rollback rate. So are we currently at the roll back rate? I assume so, but it is certainly not clear. Prop 1 is clearly written, but prop 2? No more incentives for dev or redev of property that includes retail use - this is quite broad - what kind of incentives, who would this effect? I would like to know who is responsible for these half statements so I can vote them out!
