All of these opportunities are great. But what if you really want to get to know the artist? In some sort of meeting more intimate than a museum show yet without the paranoia of the artist saying things just to close a sale? How about a presentation of their work where you are invited to ask questions?
That's just what Women & Their Work is doing. For about two years now, the longtime visual-arts organization has hosted "Show & Tell: A digital slide jam," in which various artists are invited to present slides of their work and do a little Q&A. Past participants include Theresa Marchetta, Stella Alesi, Deborah Roberts, Justin Goldwater, Celesta Danger, and William Hundley.
Yes, even though the gallery space exhibits contemporary art by women living and working in Texas, W&TW is supportive of all artists. And you should be, too. Drop by Women & Their Work this Tuesday, March 18, to catch free 15-minute presentations by Austin artists Robert Boland, Josh Rios, Corkey Sinks, and Jade Walker.
Women & Their Work presents "Show & Tell: A digital slide jam" on Tuesday, March 18, 7pm, at Women & Their Work, 1710 Lavaca. For more information, call 477-1064 or visit www.womenandtheirwork.org.
