Peeling back the layers of the Lovely Sparrows' debut EP reveals a forgotten past and a broken heart behind each lyrical turn and musical nuance. The quintet's emotional barriers blend acoustic guitar, accordion, and oddball instrumentation, best demonstrated on opener "Chemicals Change," while "The War Has Seen the Best of Me" could be the best song Jeff Mangum never wrote.
