BLANTON MUSEUM: THE PETROBELLI ALTARPIECE
This work by Venetian master Paolo Veronese (1528-1588) was recently identified as a fragment of the head of Saint Michael, the central figure in the so-called Petrobelli altarpiece from 1565. This and three other fragments from the altarpiece will be reunited for the first time in more than two centuries, on display with the reconstructed altarpiece, x-rays of the artifacts, and other ephemera.
