City Hall Hustle: Take the Bull by the Strayhorn

 Mon Jan 12, 6:51pm , 2009

The Hustle bears witness to the announcement of former gubernatorial candidate and self-described ornery grandma Carole Keeton Strayhorn for mayor. It's fun for 20-year-olds, 30-year-olds, and 40-year-olds of all ages!

Puhhhhhlllleeeezzzeeeee.... Deb Jan 13, 2009 - 11:58 am
If I have to hear one more time that police can't afford to live in Austin, I will SCREAM!

They are at the highest paid in the nation, and can afford to live anywhere they want. They make nearly twice what our councilmembers make, but they haven't fled to the burbs.

Not only is it an outdated point to run on, it's never been true.

are you kidding me? guest Jan 13, 2009 - 12:18 pm
1. Councilmembers should be paid $0 since that would probably rule out the power mongers from the people that really want to serve this city.

2. Figures please?

Steady as she goes guest Jan 13, 2009 - 02:28 pm
Since when did the city of Austin become a ship? CKRS and LL seem to be very fond of that metaphore for some reason.

at least for LL it makes some sense guest Jan 13, 2009 - 05:14 pm
since he was a pilot. I think she just used it because she's a copycat.

Seriously? shani_texas Jan 14, 2009 - 04:13 am
She can't even answer questions without someone writing an answer for her. She says the same thing over and over without ever truly answering a question.

This woman....

Time for Carole--the Return of the Jedi Strayhorn guest Jan 14, 2009 - 06:56 am
Carole gave Austin the first Barton Creek Watershed protection ordinance. Carole helped found ACC. Carole fought to start Capital Metro. Carole passed the first and only Austin Tomorrow Plan. Carole passed the first Fair Housing ordinance. She fought for the parks and libraries and to protect basic city services. She believes in open government and letting the people be heard. She will make the tough decision. She has vision and leadership.

Carole Strayhorn has my vote.

Jaime's Supports Carole guest Jan 15, 2009 - 09:54 pm
If Jaime's Spanish Village supports Carole, then so do I.
