We had our Best of Austin throwdown at the Long Center the night before the issue came out. It is our tradition to inform our winners of their award the night before. Cutting it so close can get tense. We send out invitations the Friday before, but don't know how many addresses we have wrong until they come back in the mail that Monday.
Erin Collier, the Chronicle's Marketing Director always throws a great party. This year, Curra's, Primzie, Twin Liquors, Tiff's Treats, among others catered and Nakia & His Southern Cousins and the Khabele School Jazz Band delivered on the musical milieu.

(You will not see much Uno in this gallery, as there is an entire post of gallery pictures devoted to that darned dog coming up soon )

Welcome, friends. We're opening up a special area of the blog for the brand new 2008 Best of Austin, on stands Thursday. Tonight we had a blast at the Long Center, celebrating with this year's winners.
The issue's late production, tonight's party, and the debates have pooped me out. (The Long Center folks were so sweet to allow us access to their fine Sony monitors to allow guests to watch the last presidential showdown.) I have two radio dates tomorrow morning (tune in, please!): KGSR with morning show winner Brian Beck at 8am and hanging out with Jason & Deb on the Morning X on 101X at 9am.
In the meanwhile, enjoy this sweet li'l pic of yrs truly and Critic Pick (a party fave) Uno the Beagle, the first beagle to ever win Westminster Best in Show and proud Austinite.
More tomorrow. (And promise: Pics of other people!)
