It's time once again to honor the music that makes Austin the live music capital of the world! Votes from this year's
Austin Chronicle Music Poll are being tabulated, and the winners will be announced at the 27th annual
Austin Music Awards on Wednesday, March 18, at the Austin Music Hall, the official kickoff to the South by Southwest Music Festival.
Tradition always being close to the heart of Texas, the voice of Texas psychedelia,
Roky Erickson, returns to the stage with indie psych-rock darlings the
Black Angels; legendary hardcore punk rockers the
Dicks with special guest
David Yow (Scratch Acid, the Jesus Lizard); master of all genres
Bob Schneider with
Lonelyland and a special appearance from local teen roots-rockers the
Fireants;
SDQ2: The Doug Sahm Tribute, where life's such a groove, with
Shawn Sahm,
Augie Meyers, and friends; rising indie pop/rock star
Suzanna Choffel with guests
Ruthie Foster and
Carolyn Wonderland; and a performance by
Alejandro Escovedo, fresh from his
Real Animal triumph. There's more to come, and the dapper
Andy Langer returns as emcee!
The Music Awards are presented by
The Austin Chronicle and SXSW, co-sponsored by 107.1 KGSR, and benefit the SIMS Foundation.
Tickets are SOLD OUT at Waterloo Records. A limited number of tickets will be available at Austin Music Hall night of show for $20. SXSW badges and wristbands include entry to the show at Austin Music Hall.
