2010-11 Austin Music Awards
on Saturday, March 19,
at the Austin Music Hall

It's time once again to honor the music that makes Austin the "live music capital of the world"! Votes from this year's Austin Chronicle Music Poll are being tabulated, and the winners will be announced at the 29th annual Austin Music Awards at 7:09pm sharp on Saturday, March 19, at the Austin Music Hall. It's the ending celebration to South by Southwest Music.

Among this year's acts are acclaimed singer-songwriter Sahara Smith (Myth of the Heart) accompanied by Will Sexton; the first-ever reunion of '80s country classics the Wagoneers featuring Monte Warden and special guest Joe Ely; a one-time-only appearance by Texas psychedelic legends Bubble Puppy ("Hot Smoke & Sasafrass"); fresh, rocking hometown heroes the Bright Light Social Hour; the Meat Puppets (stream or download their new single at the bottom of this page) with special guest Roky Erickson, the godfather of Texas psych; and a concert-length closing set from Mother Falcon.

"This 30th poll reflects the ever-evolving face of Austin music, and this year's 29th Music Awards mirrors that with a lineup of talent that stretches across five decades," says the Chronicle's Margaret Moser, director of the Austin Music Awards.

The Austin Music Awards are presented by The Austin Chronicle and SXSW and co-sponsored by 93.3 KGSR and the Art Institute of Austin. The event is a benefit for the SIMS Foundation. This year, the Music Awards show will air live on America's longest continually running community television station, channelAustin (Channel 10).

Tickets on sale at Waterloo Records starting Feb. 25. Cost is $15 in advance and $20 the night of the show. Your SXSW badges and wristbands include entry to the Austin Music Awards.
