09/17/11 @ Cheer Up Charlie's
Local booker Lucy the Poodle has 75 reasons to ditch a certain other music festival, hosting a 12-hour marathon of mostly Austin acts that’s now turned into a benefit for wildfire relief. Cheer Up Charlie’s offers a roulette table of pop-loving locals (Mother Falcon, Gold Beach, Elaine Greer), with assistance from the Paper Chase’s John Congleton and Denton’s Botany. Club de Ville hosts Three’s a Crowd, an impressive assortment of Austin’s power duos, most notably Black Pistol Fire, Not in the Face, and the Vitamins. Tennessee punks Cheap Time headline a stacked Red 7 bill; Beauty Bar skews toward indie folk (Dana Falconberry, Quin Galavis, Leatherbag); and Scoot Inn bats clean-up with the Midwives and Shakey Graves, among others. The $5 wristband lets you pick and choose.
