Pat Green

One of the leaders in a genre he almost single-handedly created called "Texas Music," Pat Green has achieved remarkable success. Influenced by Robert Earl Keen, Jerry Jeff Walker, and other similar Texas singer-songwriters, Green began his career at 18 while attending Texas Tech. He quickly developed a following among the college crowd, selling more than 200,000 copies of his self-released discs by 2001. His big break was an appearance at Willie Nelson's Fourth of July Picnic in 1998. Greens major label debut, Three Days, and his following two albums garnered nationwide radio play, with 2003's Wave Upon Wave selling more than 500,000 units based on the title track hitting No. 5 on the country music charts. In 2006 he moved to the RCA-associated imprint BNA for Cannonball, while touring with the likes of Kenny Chesney and the Dave Matthews Band. – Jim Caligiuri

Isnt this one of the signs of the apocalypse? Where the mimic invites the one he imitates to open the show? No matter, Jerry Jeff Walker has always encouraged young musicians in Texas, so maybe this is just payback on Pat Greens part. Besides Walker, his very talented son, Django, is also appearing, making this two wide-ranging nights of Texas music.
